Mission Statement

Catholic Central School is a premier Pre-K – 12th grade school that educates the whole child – body, mind, and spirit – with a commitment to the Catholic faith. It’s a community where the educators, families, and parish partner together to develop better individuals. CCS provides a unique opportunity for students seeking a richer, broader, Christ-centered college preparatory education. It’s the future of Catholic education.

Our History

Catholic Central School is a coeducational, college preparatory school educating more than 300 students in grades Pre K-12. Located in Latham, our diverse student body hails from 35 surrounding school districts. Catholic Central is rich in history and tradition. Our school was founded in 1923 by Bishop Edmund F. Gibbons at request from pastors in local parishes. The first year the school opened it served around 520 students, but the next year it doubled to 1,046. Through many different changes, our school has remained a vibrant force in the community for 92 years.

We have graduated 25,000+ young men and women who have become doctors, lawyers, business owners, teachers, etc. Although their days walking the hallowed halls of CCHS have ended, they remain true to the “purple and white” with their ever-present CRUSADER SPIRIT! Catholic Central remains the largest Diocesan high school in the Albany Diocese.

In the Fall of 2022 Catholic Central relocated to the St. Ambrose Church campus partnering with its Parish School to re-envision Catholic Education for the 21st Century and beyond as a Pre-K - Grade 12 regional institution.
